Operation Toilets is an initiative of the Rotary Club of Box Hill Central in Melbourne, Australia. The first project was completed in 2015 impacting on the lives of around 500 children in one school in the Indian city of Nasik.  We have another underway near Delhi and two more currently in development, one of them in India and the other in Ethiopia. A small project has already been completed in Ethiopia as well as a number of small projects in India alongside the Global Grants and we are partnering in a new project in Ghana and exploring opportunities in East Timor, the Solomon Islands, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Central America.

Operation Toilets is an initiative of the Rotary Club of Box Hill Central in Melbourne, Australia. The first project was completed in 2015 impacting on the lives of around 500 children in one school in the Indian city of Nasik. Since then we have completed a Global Grant project in Nasik.

In the three years since our first project, Operation Toilets has reached some 30,000 children. By the end of next year, we expect this number to be approaching 100,000. In our view, this project belongs toall Rotarians and certainly, our partnerships to date suggest that this is how others are beginning to see it too. Rotary clubs in four Districts in Australia have already joined an Operation Toilets project. Clubs in five Districts in the USA, one in Canada, one in the UK and one in Spain have confirmed their intention to become involved as well and a number of Districts around the world have shown strong interest in becoming involved as well.
In India, over a dozen clubs in five cities have become integral partners as well with many more expected to join in over the next year and beyond.

Project Manager Mark Balla is a WASRAG Board Member, a member of the Rotary Foundation Cadre of Technical Advisors and last year he was inducted to the World Toilet Organization Hall of Fame. He has spoken about Operation Toilets at a number of District Conferences in the USA, India and Australia, at two WASRAG Summits (Sao Paulo and Toronto), an RI Presidential Summit on WASH & Literacy in Schools at literally dozens of Rotary Clubs around the world and has also delivered a TEDx Talk entitled "Toilet Humour is Serious Business".

Operation Toilets new website was launched on 9 August 2018. Like all websites, it is a work in progress, however, it provides all Rotarians with an introduction to current and upcoming projects which are in need of funds and partners right now.
